Dr. Kang-Sadhnani was born in Singapore and moved to Australia during her younger years with her family. As a young adult, she moved to the United States and later back to Australia. Dr. Kang-Sadhnani is registered with the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP) and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She also approved as a Supervisor by AHPRA. Dr. Kang-Sadhnani holds professional memberships with the Australian Psychological Society (APS), APS Clinical College and Singapore Psychological Society (SPS).
Trained as a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Kang-Sadhnani has extensive clinical experience working with children, adolescents and their families in addition to couples and adults. Her experience spans across areas of mental and physical health in a wide range of settings including hospitals, private practice, educational and corporate settings. Although Dr. Kang-Sadhnani is trained to work with individuals of all ages, her specialized interests are related to working with children, adolescents, and their families.
Clinically, she has experience in working with clients who are having difficulties with anxiety, depression, phobias, stress, self-harm, trauma, eating and feeding difficulties, grief/loss, relationship conflicts and adjustment issues as well as sleep problems, behavioural problems, self-esteem issues, anger management, conflict resolution and social difficulties. Additionally, Dr. Kang-Sadhnani has specialized training in working with clients who experience somatic complaints relating to irritable bowel syndrome and other functional gastrointestinal disorders. Furthermore, she has also received specialized training in working with women with emotional and relational difficulties arising from pre and post-natal complications and issues.
Prior to joining the Child Development Centre, Dr. Kang-Sadhnani led a team of internationally and locally trained Educational and Clinical Psychologist through her role as the Head of the Psychology Department in an eminent child therapy centre in Singapore. Through this role, Dr. Kang-Sadhnani served young children and adolescents by providing diagnostic clinical and psycho-educational assessments in addition to therapeutic interventions. She was also involved in setting a child and adolescent service for another multi-focused psychiatric clinic in Singapore.
Furthermore, her clinical professional experience extends to practising as a Clinical and Corporate Consultant Psychologist at The Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and National University Hospital (NUH: Gastrointestinal and Paediatric Departments) in Singapore. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Kang-Sadhnani provides clinical supervision to mental health professionals and trainee clinical psychologists. She also holds the position of Lecturer/Clinical Supervisor for the Master and Doctoral Clinical Psychology Program at the James Cook University Singapore.
Dr. Kang-Sadhnani is trained in the use of a wide range of psychotherapeutic interventions: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Brief Psychodynamic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systemic Therapy, Schema Therapy, DIR®/Floortime, Triple P Parenting and Solution-Focused Therapy. She takes an integrative approach in her clinical practice, firmly believing in developing a holistic understanding of her clients’ personal experiences and individualized treatment approaches. She also adopts a similar holistic approach in her psychological evaluations: where the child and their interactions in multiple contexts are explored by a multi-professional team. Information derived from the evaluations is then used develop intervention and/or identify school and home support that can be delivered by trained practitioners. Dr. Kang-Sadhnani works closely with the international schools in Singapore and the surrounding region, as well as local schools under the purview of the Ministry of Education, Singapore.
Having lived and worked in several countries, Dr. Kang-Sadhnani is familiar with difficulties relating to expatriation and is sensitive to cultural adjustment issues. She has offered support to clients from both local and expatriate populations. Dr. Kang-Sadhnani is a firm believer that every young person has strengths which need to be acknowledged and cultivated in therapeutic intervention. Each individual has the potential to lead a happy and fulfilling life.
